Hi. I'm Florence. I make music that speaks to the corners of the soul; the depths, the dark bits, the shadows and light, the joy and the pain.
I've been singing since before I could speak and writing music for over 25 years. When I was 13, I sang Somewhere Over The Rainbow at a School Leavers Concert. For the first time that afternoon, the entire room went quiet. That spellbound audience was a profound feeling and, since that moment, connecting with people through music is what I live for!

Biography
From my first open mic at 17, to 20 years down the line, a lot of musical ground has been covered! I started out as a solo singer and songwriter in Bristol. I travelled to Australis where I lived for two years, formed my first band and lived in a musicians house where almost every evening was a night of free form jamming!
Back in the UK, I started Florence & The Bare Souls, which I led for nearly eight years and had so much fun with, playing festivals and shows across the UK and even travelling to Bahrain for the Jazz Fest and mini a tour! I also played with a number of other bands during these years, including Cut Capers and various function projects.
Managing a seven piece band proved too much! I also got very ill around that time with severe chronic pain and thyroid cancer. I decided to take a break, but immediately started another band. Oops! Now I run a four piece with three of my favourite people. Our first ever live gig? Just Glastonbury Festival.
My songwriting draws on my ongoing physical and mental health challenges, a comically tragic love life, desire, passion and sex.
As well the originals band, the same line up also gets down and dirty as Mid Flo & The Afterthoughts, smashing out classic rock covers. Plus, I put together a Pulp Fiction and The Best of Tarantino live soundtrack show! And of course, play lots of shows as a solo singer doing covers of all kinds!
